MASSAGES
Swedish
The most common term for massage, utilizing long fluid strokes over the entire body. Proven to ease muscle tension, promote relaxation, while using firm but gentle pressure.
Deep Tissue (Therapeutic, Neuromuscular, Myofascial, Etc.)
This massage is aimed at working on the connective tissue (fascia) and muscles that are unable to release on their own. While Deep Tissue is a broad term used in defining massage, there are many different modalities (types of massage) that can be incorporated into this terminology.
Thai
Traditional Thai massage, also called Thai Yoga massage, is performed on a padded mat on the floor while the guest is fully clothed in loose fitting clothing. This massage is often described as being energizing or invigorating. The focus is on the sen (energy pathways) while the therapists uses their hands, feet, legs, body weight, etc. to open these blocked pathways.
Hot Stone
Hot Stone massage is performed with 25 – 40 basalt stones that absorb and hold heat very well due to their dense volcanic nature. The highly skilled therapist will use many stones on each part of the body while using long flowing strokes and medium to light pressure.
Table Thai
Table Thai is a trademarked style of massage that was developed by Joel Sheposh, who resides in Phoenix, Arizona. It is Thai Bodywork that is performed on a massage table and combines pressure point techniques with a variety of stretching movements. The guest is gently pulled, pushed and kneaded, but emerges relaxed, centered, grounded and re-energized.
